Teach, learn, and research on the go with technologies at UNC Charlotte. You can access most systems on the web using any device. Some specialized software will require you to connect to the VPN, while others will be accessible only via devices managed and owned by the University. Personal devices must follow the Standard for Teleworking, the Guidelines for Data Handling and include the current antivirus software provided to employees. Additional resources are available for faculty courtesy of the Center for Teaching and Learning.
When working remotely, it is very important to remember what type of data you are handling. Level 2 and 3 data should never be accessed from personal computers; however, in emergency situations, a supervisor may waive this restriction for Level 2 data. The charts below indicate this exception with “Maybe*“. Level 2 and 3 data should never be stored on the hard drive.
Below we have highlighted enterprise systems and services and indicate how the service can be accessed remotely and what the data handling guidelines are.
Service providers: if you would like a system included in this list, contact Beth Carthers, caruthers@uncc.edu.
