(Before 1980) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located far off the trail, not far from the fence. It is a large, overgrown clump of ‘Maxecat’, near several large clumps of R. minus.

Rhododendron 'Maud Corning'
(1993) A Dexter hybrid with R. fortunei as a parent, from the Kellam collection. The original unnamed plant came to the Holden Arboretum in Ohio and was named in honor of Mrs. Corning, the wife of the arboretum’s director. The flowers are pink and fragrant. The plant is on the trail, just south of R. prunifolium, in the area south of the old Glen entrance.

(1990) A dwarf lepidote (small leaves) rhodo, hybridized by Nearing. Early blooming with creamy white flowers. At the edge of the trail, near its intersection with the Cabin Trail.

(1996) From Sandwich, MA acquired by TLM. Raised by Dr. John Wister at Swarthmore College. Located just off the trail near the intersection with the Kellam Spur Trail.

(2002) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located on the trail, just east of the azalea, alabamense. The accession number is 02-V-025.

(Unknown date) This plant is located on the trail near its intersection with the Pine Woods Trail. It is the first rhodo on the north side ot the Wildflower Meadow Trail.

(Before 1980) This plant is located in the “Azalea Hill” open area created by the fallen giant white oak. Most plants in this area are azaleas with a few small trees and herbaceous plants. It is located on the trail, about midway between the north and south ends of this open area.

(Unknown date) A strong grower in the Glen with the parentage catawbiense X ponticum. This plant has been in the Glen many years and is spreading by layering. Located close to the path, not far from the wide bridge in the area just north of the Bog. White flowers with a prominent yellow blotch.

(2012) Hybridized in 1949 in France, this plant is compact and spreading with flowers that are easily recognized by their white color with a prominent yellow blotch. It is located off the trail, in the area with some Magnolia trees (north of Hickory Gap). It is just south of a leaning red bud tree and west of R. ‘Charlestown’.

(Before 1980) Hybridized in 1949 in France, this plant is compact and spreading with flowers that are easily recognized by their white color with a prominent yellow blotch. It is located on the trail near the Hemlock grove, opposite the intersection with the Rosebay Trail.

(1994) This hybrid from C&T Nursery is located on the trail, next to the watering post and due south of the Louisiana (C&T Nursery) hybrid, ‘White River’. These hybrids are grouped together, have been bred for heat tolerance, and have shown great vigor (2017) since their planting.

(2012) I have no information about this hybrid. It is located in the area just south of the Kellam Area, off the trail just behind the bed containing the two vaseyi azaleas and R. hyperythrum.

(2012) Research does not show anything about this hybrid. It is located off the trail in the area with some Magnolia trees (north of Hickory Gap). It is close to a large oak leaf hydrangea, and just south of ‘Vulcan’s Flame’.

(1994) This hybrid from C&T Nursery is located off the trail, adjacent (on the southeast) to the Louisiana (C&T Nursery) hybrid, ‘Elizabeth Ard’. These hybrids are grouped together, have been bred for heat tolerance, and have shown great vigor (2017) since their planting.
Rhododendron 'LH4585'
(1997) A hybrid from Ed Collins, who gave us a number of unnamed rhodos. This plant seems to be the only one remaining of ten that were planted in this area in 1997. It is located off the trail, below all the Louisiana plantings and northeast of R. viscosum.
Rhododendron 'Lemon Ice'
(Before 1980) This plant was hybridized by Bosley, and has a white flower with a prominent yellow blotch. It is located on the trail, not far from the intersection with the North Loop Trail. It is just south of R. minus.

(Before 1980) An older hybrid, this plant is located on the trail, just north of the ditch and close to the four ‘Cadis’ plants. The accession number is 80-V-379.
Rhododendron 'Lee's Dark Purple' #2
(Before 1980) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located just off the trail at the south end of this area, between a Styrax tree and a Hemlock tree. It is a very old, tall plant.

It is located on the trail, just south of the azalea, ‘Buttercup’. The accession number is 02-V-027.

(2009) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located close to the picnic table on the north side. The accession number is 09-V-007.
Rhododendron 'Koster's Choice'
(1993) Hybridized by Koster, this plant came from the Kellam Collection. It is located on the trail, just across the trail from a bench. The accession number is 93-V-013.
Rhododendron 'Kaye Player'
(2001) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located in the far south end of this area, just north of R. ‘Mrs Sam’. The hybridizer, Lonnie Player, considered it his “best cross to date”. One parent is ‘Jean Marie de Montague’.
Rhododendron 'Katherine Dalton'
(2009) This Gable hybrid has the fortunei species as one parent, and it has pink flowers. It is located on the trail, just east of the intersection with the Wildflower Meadow Trail.
Rhododendron 'July Jester'
(2012) A hybrid azalea with R. prunifolium as one parent. “July” in the name means that it has been bred to bloom in July, as would the prunifolium species. Located at the intersection of the Kellam Trail, the Cabin Trail, and the Rosebay Trail.

(2007) This plant is located in a small area bounded by the Scout Bridge Trail on the west side and the fence on the east. It is located off the trail, just west of a large canescens, where the trail bends towards the west. It was hybridized by John Wister at the Tyler Arboretum and is in a group of rhodos propagated by D. Little.

(2010) A Dexter hybrid with a dense, well-branched growth habit. Flowers are fragrant and frilly, light pink with a yellow blotch. This plant was raised by Dan Little, and is considered one of the best by the ARS. It is located just off the trail, in the area just south of the old entrance to the Glen and west of the Kellam Trail. It is west of R. ‘Jonathan Shaw’.
Rhododendron 'Jame Michael'
(2011) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. It is located a little off the trail, between two other Sutherland hybrids. This Sutherland hybrid is ‘Vivacious x hyperythrum’.

(Unknown date) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. It is located off the trail just west of R. ‘Papa Cook’ and not far from the Scout Bridge Trail.

(1993) A hybrid from the Heritage Plantation (HP) in Massachusetts. It is located on the trail, in the area adjoining (north) of the Kellam area.

(1995) A numbered Heritage Plantation (HP) plant moved from a Kellam bed. It is located on the trail, west of a large hickory tree and just east of R. ‘Griersplendour’.
