(1994) A Dexter hybrid of unknown parentage, predominately white flowers. An older plant located just east of ‘Xerox’ and north of the Bog Trail.

ClearRhododendron 'Madame Masson' #3
(Unknown date) A strong grower in the Glen with the parentage catawbiense X ponticum. This plant has been in the Glen many years and is spreading by layering. Located close to the path, not far from the wide bridge in the area just north of the Bog. White flowers with a prominent yellow blotch.
Rhododendron 'Josephine Everitt' #1
(1993) A Dexter hybrid of unknown parentage. Located in the area north of the bog, near the center and west of the canescens azalea.
Rhododendron 'Herbie' #3
(2000) A large hybrid named in honor of the founder of the Gardens, Dr. Herbert Hechenbleikner. It has peachy, yellowish flowers and is located in the area just north of the Bog. It is close to the path and between the rhodos ‘Nestucca’ and ‘Solidarity’, not far from the wide bridge.
Rhododendron 'Grierosplendour' #11
(1991) A hybrid with one parent being ‘Purple Splendour’, giving the flowers a purplish-red color. The plant is quite common in the Glen and distinguished by the unusual shape of the flower buds. It is located in the area just south of the Cabin; it is on the trail, directly north of the Cabin, the only large rhodo in the area.
Rhododendron 'Glenolden'
(1994) A Dexter clone, selected at Swarthmore by Wister. Our plant is very large and located some 20 feet off the trail in the area just south of the Kellam Area. It is not far from the large Hemlock tree on the Bog Trail. The name likely comes from the city, Glenolden, PA.
Rhododendron 'English Roseum' #7
(Before 1980) An old cut back plant, located on the trail near the Cabin, just north of R. ‘Grierosplendour’. Its age is indicated by the fact that it has a brass label.
Rhododendron 'Dexter's Peppermint x op' #4
(2007) A hybrid using OP (open pollination) with Dexter’s Peppermint. Located just east of ‘Merley Cream’ in the area bordering the bog.
Rhododendron 'Dexter's Apricot' #1
(1997) A Dexter hybrid, very large plant moved from Kellam’s, and probably the best rhodo in the area just north of the Bog. Located some 20 feet off the trail where it bends towards the wide bridge.

(2004) Close to the watering post, near the center of the area. (Label # V-030) One of the best of the old “iron-clads”, very durable.

Rhododendron 'Cowles 2H8387'
(2001) Hybridized or selected by Jack Cowles at Heritage Plantation. Located close to the trail, just north of the wide bridge.
Rhododendron 'Cowles 2H8385 X Beamel'
A large Cowles hybrid located near the Short Branch, just east of the wide branch.
Rhododendron 'Cowles 2H1388'
A very “leggy” plant, hybridized or selected by Jack Cowles at Heritage Plantation. Located on the Short Branch, just east of the Wide Bridge, beside another Cowles plant.
Rhododendron 'Conant's Pink' #2
(1994) From the Kellam Collection, but may be mislabelled – I can find no reference to this hybrid. Located on the trail, in the area just north of the Bog, not far from the large Dexter’s Apricot plant.
Rhododendron 'Betty Hume' #1
(1994) A Dexter hybrid with fragrant pink, frilly flowers. A large plant located not far from the trail, about midway between the Bog Trail and the Kellam Connecting Trail.
Rhododendron 'Accomplishment'
(1999) A Dexter hybrid with bicolor (red and white) flowers. Located close to the creek bank in the area just north of the Bog. It is near the wide bridge.
Rhododendron 'A. Bedford' #2
(Before 1980) A very old, tall plant, next to the trail in front of the rock outcropping. One of two plants close together. (Label # V-017)
Rhododendron '(unlabelled hybrid'
(2013) This unknown plant is located in the area just south of the Kellam Area. It is not far off the trail, just east of a R.prunifolium plant.
Rhododendron 'Caroline' #2
A very old, tall plant – one of the earliest plantings. Located some 15-20 feet off the trail, in the area of the large Magnolia macrophylla.
Rhododendron 'Brookville'#2
(1994) A Phipps hybrid, from the Kellam collection. Our plant is very large and located in the area just south of the Kellam Area. It is off the trail, about midway between the Bog Trail and the Kellam Connecting Trail.
