(Before 1980) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located far off the trail, not far from the fence. It is a large, overgrown clump of ‘Maxecat’, near several large clumps of R. minus.

(Before 1980) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located just off the trail at the south end of this area, between a Styrax tree and a Hemlock tree. It is a very old, tall plant.

(2002) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located on the trail, just south of the azalea, ‘Buttercup’. The accession number is 02-V-027.

(2009) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located close to the picnic table on the north side. The accession number is 09-V-007.
Rhododendron 'Kaye Player'
(2001) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located in the far south end of this area, just north of R. ‘Mrs Sam’. The hybridizer, Lonnie Player, considered it his “best cross to date”. One parent is ‘Jean Marie de Montague’.

(Before 1980) This plant is located in the far north end of Area 2C on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, and the East Entrance on the north. It is located on the trail, not far from R. ‘Tom Everett’.
Rhododendron 'Jame Michael'
(2011) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. It is located a little off the trail, between two other Sutherland hybrids. This Sutherland hybrid is ‘Vivacious x hyperythrum’.

(Unknown date) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. It is located off the trail just west of R. ‘Papa Cook’ and not far from the Scout Bridge Trail.

(2009) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. It is located off the trail, south of R. ‘Grierosplendour’ and it was hybridized by Russ and Velma Haag. The accession number is 09-V-016.

(1999) A peachy, yellowish flowered hybrid named for Dr. Herbert Hechenbleikner, the founder of the UNCC gardens. It is located on the trail, just south of R. calendulaceum x choptank, where the Pine Woods Trail forms the east side of the Azalea Circle.

(1999) This large rhodo is located on the trail, adjacent (on the south side) to R.’Nacoochee’. This part of the Pine Woods Trail forms the east side of the Azalea Circle.

It is located just off the trail, south of R.Vivacious and just west of R. Vulcan’s Shadow. The accession number is 09-V-019.

(Before 1980) This plant is located in the far north end of Area 2C on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, and the East Entrance on the north. It is located just off the trail, east of R. Josephine Everitt’. It is a very old plant, cutback over the years.

(Before 1980) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located on the trail, adjacent on the northside to R. austrinum x canescens, close to the far south edge of this area. In 2017, this plant had a very impressive bloom set.

(Unknown date) This old hybrid is located just off the trail, north of the Pine Woods, and adjacent (on the south side) to R.’Maxecat’. It has a “leggy” habit with long leaves and white flowers.

(2002) This azalea is located on the trail where the Pine Woods Trail intersects with the Azalea Circle Trail. It is adjacent (on the north side) to R. ‘Nacoochee’.
Rhododendron 'Bonfire'
(Unknown date) This plant is located in a small area off the Pine Woods Trail, just south of the Azalea Circle. It is dominated by large R. ‘Maxecat’ plants. The plant is on the Pine Woods Trail, at the north corner of the area.
Rhododendron 'Aromi Sunny-side-up'
(2002) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located just east of the azalea, ‘My Mary’ and the accession number 02-V-028. The hybridizer is Aromi.

(Before 1980) This old plant was severely cut back in 2016. It is located on the trail, south of the intersection with the WIldflower Meadow Trail and behind a large Callicarpa shrub.

(Before 1980) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area off the trail and about midway between the picnic table and the fence. It is on the north side of a group of unlabelled rhododendrons, all quite large and very old in the Pine Woods.

(Before 1980) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. It is not far off the trail, just north of R. prunifolium. It has a nice flower, but a “leggy” unactractive growth habit.

It is located far off the trail, adjacent to ( on the east side) R.’Governor’s Mansion’ in the south side of this area. The accession number is 09-V-008.

Tall, coarse plant with yellow sunflower-like flowers, which clasp the stem. In the Wildflower Meadow, forming a large colony.

(Before 1980) An old hybrid located on the path by itself, opposite a large patch of Eubotrys (Syn, Leucothoe racemosa) on the east side of the Pine Woods Trail.
Rhododendron 'Catawbiense Boursault'
(1995) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located off the trail at the north end of the area, close to (southside) a white oak tree and west of R. ‘Brown Eyes’.
Rhododendron 'Catawbiense Album' #2
(Before 1980) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. It is located about midway between the fence and the trail, east of R. ‘Griersplendour’. Once common in the Glen, nearly all of this hybrid have not survived.

It is located on the trail, just north of the azalea, ‘My Mary’, and the accession number is 02-V-024.
Rhododendron 'Carolina Moon'
(2009) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. It is located just off the trail, east of R. ‘Herbie’ and just south of a large overgrown clump of R.’Maxecat’. Hybridized by Russ and Velma Haag, its flowers are yellowish-green.

(2010) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located far off the trail, near the fence, close to a hemlock tree and a large clump of R. minus. The accession number is 10-V-006. It is raised from seed of an open pollinated ‘Cadis’ plant.
