(Before 1980) This large azalea is located on the trail, on the eastside of R. 'Anna Rose Whitney', not far from Hech Bridge. It takes some severe pruning on the large rhodo to keep it from engulfing the azalea.

(Before 1980) A large azalea with orange-red flowers in late summer. Grows in the wild in only a few counties on the Georgia/Alabama border. Our plant is located at the intersection of the Michaux Trail, just west of Hech Bridge.

(2004) A hybrid from Mike Stilwell, 'Maxecat' x hyperythrum, raised and registered by Wyatt Lefever. It has white flowers, with red speckles on the upper lobes. It is located near the entrance, on the flagstone path where the drainage ditch crosses.

Large patch at Bonnie Cone Memorial site - also along Michaux Trail. One of the earliest of the wild flowers to bloom.
