Regularly Communicate with Your Child’s School

Regularly Communicate with Your Child’s School

  • Become a partner with your children’s teachers and administrators by visiting the school, or calling the teacher, using the website of the school, or emailing the teachers and administrators.
  • Know your child’s interests and unique needs and then communicate these to the school.
  • Follow-up with school communications in a timely fashion.
  • Know what the teacher expects from your child.
  • Parents can support their child’s educational progress by keeping in contact with the school using their phone, writing notes to the school, email, checking websites, or visiting the school.
  • If you cannot communicate with the school yourself, find a relative or neighbor who can advocate on your behalf with the school.
