(Before 1980) A very large, old plant – likely one of the early plantings in the Glen. It is located on the trail, where the Pine Woods Trail forms the east side of the Azalea Circle. It is near the point where the Azalea Circle bends towards the southwest. The accession number is 80-V-317.
Rhododendron 'Van nes Sensation' #5
(2010) Propagated from a widely planted rhodo in the original Glen plantings in the seventies. Located close to the trail, in the area just north of the Bog. It is not far from the large Dexter’s Apricot. Pale lilac flowers, predominantly white.
Rhododendron 'Van Nes Sensation' #4
(Before 1980) This hybrid is one of the earliest plantings in the Glen, probably planted in the 1970’s. It is located on the trail, just north of the intersection of the Long Branch East Trail and the Giant Oak Trail.
Rhododendron 'Van Nes Sensation' #3
(Before 1980) A widely planted hybrid in the original Glen plantings in the seventies. It has pale lilac flowers, shading to white and is located off the trail, in the area containing the Hemlock grove and Short Branch on the southside. Due to lack of light from the hemlocks, it is spreading laterally and not a good specimen. It is close to the Short Branch and the fence.

(Before 1980) A widely planted hybrid in the original Glen plantings in the seventies. Rhododendron 'Van Nes Sensation' #1
(Before 1980) This is a very old hybrid, since ‘Van Nes Sensation’ was among the earliest of the rhodos planted in the Glen. It is located on the trail in the area known as the Hickory Gap. It is fairly close to the huge stump-end of the fallen giant oak tree.
Rhododendron 'Unlabelled Dexter Hybrid'
(Before 1980) This old hybrid has the foliage of a Dexter plant, but its identity is lost. It is located on the trail, near the intersection with the Long Branch East Trail, and just south of R. ‘Van Nes Sensation’.
Rhododendron 'unlabelled azalea'
(Before 1980) An old, tall azalea of unknown species. It is located in the Kellam Area, off the trail, growing up through part of the huge Barnstable rhodo, east of the Kellam sign.

(2007) This Dexter hybrid is located on the trail, where it bends to the south, and just north of a pine tree. The accession number is 07-V-036.

Rhododendron 'Trude Webster' #1
(1991) A Greer hybrid donated by Dr. Means, with pink flowers borne on a huge truss of 14 flowers. It is located on the southwest corner of the Kellam Area where the Kellam Trail intersects with the Kellam Connecting Trail.
Rhododendron 'Towe 2'
(1992) This hybrid is from the Kellam collection, with no research found about its origin. This plant is located in the area just south of the Short Branch and west of the Kellam Trail. It is on the trail, just south of R. ‘HP 28-86’.

(Before 1980) This plant is located in the far north end of Area 2C on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, and the East Entrance on the north. It is located on the trail, not far from the East Entrance. It is a very old, huge plant.

(2005) A well known Dexter hybrid, this plant is located just west of R. ‘Fragrant Yelton’. The accession number is 05-V-020.
Rhododendron 'Tom Everett' #3
(Before 1980) This plant is located in a small area bounded by the Stone Bridge Trail and the Hickory Gap and Long Branch East Trails leading to the Stone Bridge. It is near the Stone Bridge, and it is an old sprawling, low plant, spreading over the years. Unlike a normal ‘Tom Everett’, which is a large, tall plant.

(1991) A Dexter hybrid, donated by Marshall Stilwell. It is a large plant with pink flowers and rounded growth habit. It is located on the trail in the Kellam Area, not far from the Kellam sign.

Rhododendron 'Tod Morden'
(2010) A Dexter hybrid with flowers predominantly pink, aging to white. Raised by Dan Little. It is located in the area just north of the Kellam Area, and is off the trail, just southeast of R. ‘Piedmont Kinloss’.
Rhododendron 'Teaticket'
(Unknown date) A Dexter hybrid, older planting located on the side hill, about midway between the Short Branch Trail and the Kellam Spur Trail.
Rhododendron 'Taurus' #4
(Unknown date) This plant is located in an area bounded on the east by the Scout Bridge Trail, on the south by a drainage ditch and Coastal Plain area, and on the west by the Long Branch East Trail. It mainly consists of older plantings. It is located just off the trail, at the corner where the Scout Bridge Trail bends to the south. It was in rather poor shape in 2017.

It is located off the trail just east of an extensive growth of R. ‘Maxecat’. The accession number is 10-V-020.
Rhododendron 'Taurus' #2
(1996) This hybrid is located on the trail, very close to a tulip tree, about midway on the trail. It is adjacent (on the southwest side) to R. ‘P.J.M.’ . The accession number is 96-V-036. The flower is deep red, as might be predicted by the cross: The Honourable Jean Marie de Montague x strigillosum.

(2016) A Mossman hybrid with strong red flowers. This plant is located in the area just south of the Kellam Area. It is close to the trail just north of R.’Spice x Peppermint’.

(1993) This hybrid is from the Kellam collection. It is located off the trail, in the area just south of the Short Branch and west of the Kellam Trail. It is west of R. ‘Vulcan’s Flame’.

(Before 1980) A Dexter hybrid numbered selection by Swarthmore College Arboretum. It is located on the trail, in the area adjoining (north) of the Kellam area, beside a hickory tree, about midway in the Kellam Spur Trail.

(1992) A Swarthmore (SW) College hybrid from the Kellam collection (originally from the Dexter estate). It is located on the trail, in the area adjoining (north) of the Kellam area.
Rhododendron 'Sprawling Yelton'
(Before 1980) This sprawling old plant is unlabelled, but probably a Yelton hybrid. It is located on the trail, just north of the fallen giant oak.
Rhododendron 'Spice x Peppermint'
(1994) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located off the trail on the sidehill east of the Stone Bridge. The main plant died in 2017, but several layered pieces are healthy.
Rhododendron 'Soquee River'
(1996) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located off the trail, midway between the picnic table (2017) and the Pine Woods Trail. It is a selection of the species, calendulaceum.

Rhododendron 'Smokey Mountain'
(2000) This hybrid is located off the trail about midway between the Sunflower and Maple Trails, not far from the south end of these trails. It is on the edge of a spreading beech fern. The accession number is 00-V-062.
Rhododendron 'Skerryvore Monarch'
(2007) A Dexter hybrid with fragrant, pink flowers, growing wide and not tall (3 Feet in ten years). It is located off the trail, beside R. Rhona Pink.
Rhododendron 'Shazam'
(Before 1990) Research finds very little about this hybrid. It is in the Kellam area, on the trail, north of R. ‘Tom Everett’.
Rhododendron 'Sham's Ruby x 'Dr. Creech'
(1994) This hybrid from C&T Nursery is located off the trail, due southwest of the Louisiana (C&T Nursery) hybrid, ‘Vera Holt’. These hybrids are grouped together, have been bred for heat tolerance, and have shown great vigor (2017) since their planting.
Rhododendron 'Scintillation' #3
(2001) This plant is located in a narrow area bounded by the Long Branch and the Long Branch East Trail, starting with the Stone Bridge and going to the Hech Bridge near the entrance to the Coastal Plain. It is located on the trail, just north of a Gregory Bald azalea.

(2010) A Dexter hybrid raised by Dan Little. This plant has pink flowers, is a classic rhodo, and one of the few rhodos put into a separate class by the ARS due to its outstanding qualities. This plant is located on the trail, in the area just south of the Short Branch and west of the Kellam Trail. It is situated on the bank of the Short Branch.

(Unknown date) This plant is located in a small area bounded on the east by the Long Branch East Trail and on the west by the Long Branch. It is just across the stream from the Cabin. It is located on the trail, just south of R. ‘Catawbiense Album’. It is a very tall, old plant, perhaps dating before 1980.
Rhododendron 'Ruby Bowman x hyperythrum'
(2012) This plant is located in the small area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Scout Bridge Trail on the south and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the north. This is a Sutherland hybrid, located just off the trail, just northeast of another Sutherland hybrid, ‘Vivacious x Leola’.
Rhododendron 'Rosy Cheeks'
(2001) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located on the trail, in the south end of this area, just southeast of a large azalea ‘Yellow Flame’. It is a hybrid of atlanticum x periclymenoides.

(Before 1980) A large old plant located on the trail, north of R. ‘Pink Satin’ and the culvert crossing the Sunflower Trail. It is southwest of R. 002 x decorum x ‘Unique’.
