(Before 1980) This large azalea is located on the trail, on the eastside of R. 'Anna Rose Whitney', not far from Hech Bridge. It takes some severe pruning on the large rhodo to keep it from engulfing the azalea.

(Unknown date) At the intersection of Rosebay and Kellam Trails. Seed stock from Gregory Bald. Formerly R. bakeri, renamed Cumberland from the mountain range in western Virginia. Usually red, but can form natural hybrids with R. viscosum and R.arborescens. Blooms in early summer, later than most azaleas.

(1997) A large plant located on the trail at the corner where the North Loop and Loop Connecting Trails intersect. Plant was donated by Dr. Robert Means, an active member of the Piedmont Chapter of the ARS. This species is widely used for it heat tolerance and resistance to drought and disease.

(2004) Located in the area southwest of the Cabin, about midway between the west and east ends of the Cabin Trail, just off the trail. The plant was propagated from a Yelton hybrid, originally planted in the Glen at the garden's origin in the late 60's and 70's.

Rhododendron alabamense 'Nancy Callaway'
(2009) This azalea is located on the southeast corner of the Azalea Circle, where it intersects with the Pine Woods Trail. It is a selection of the Alabama azalea, selected for its dense, spreading growth habit. It has white flowers with a yellow blotch. THe accession number is 09-V-020.

(Unknown date) This plant is located on the trail - it is the second rhodo on the southside of the trail, counting from the Pine Woods Trail. It is extremely dense and compact, with every indication of it being a dwarf plant.

(Before 1980) This unknown plant is located at the intersection of the Rosebay and Kellam Trails just above the Short Branch. It is under a Hemlock tree and not thriving due to lack of light. It is almost hidden because it is growing together with a R. minus plant.

(Unknown date) This plant is located in an area bounded on the east by the Scout Bridge Trail, on the south by a drainage ditch and Coastal Plain area, and on the west by the Long Branch East Trail. It mainly consists of older plantings. It is located just off the trail, at the corner where the Scout Bridge Trail bends to the south. It was in rather poor shape in 2017.

(2007) This hybrid is located off the trail, adjacent to R. 'Grierosplendour' (on the north side). The predominant flower color is purple, with a strong red blotch. One of the parents is R. 'Purple Splendour'. The accession number is 07-V-032.

(2009) This Gable hybrid has the fortunei species as one parent, and it has pink flowers. It is located on the trail, just east of the intersection with the Wildflower Meadow Trail.

(2012) A hybrid azalea with R. prunifolium as one parent. "July" in the name means that it has been bred to bloom in July, as would the prunifolium species. Located at the intersection of the Kellam Trail, the Cabin Trail, and the Rosebay Trail.

(1991) This hybrid has always been considered an outstanding rhodo by the Am. Rhododendron Society, though this plant has not done especially well at this site. It is located on the trail, just west of R. 'Flaming Snow', near the East Entrance.

(1995) A numbered Heritage Plantation (HP) plant moved from a Kellam bed. It is located on the trail, west of a large hickory tree and just east of R. 'Griersplendour'.

(Before 1980) A hybrid with one parent being 'Purple Splendour', giving the flowers a purplish-red color. The plant is quite common in the Glen and distinguished by the unusual shape of the flower buds. This plant is located on the trail, close to (west of) R. 'HP 648-67', in the area just north of the Kellam Area.

(1991) A Dexter hybrid from the Kellam collection with pink flowers. A large plant, broader than tall, located in the row of Dexter hybrids, just east of 'Dexter's Spice'.

(Before 1980) A very old plant, known for its fragrance, and in a group widely planted in the Glen known as Yeltons, after the donator, Dr. Ernest Yelton. The plant is located on the trail about midway between the Loop Connecting Trail and the intersection of the North Loop Trail and the Long Branch East Trail.

(1991) A Dexter hybrid with an upright and dense habit; flowers open pink, fading to almost white. This plant is on the trail, just east of R. 'Janet Blair', near the East Entrance.

(1996) A Dexter hybrid with upright and dense habit; flowers open pink, fading to almost white. It is located in the northern section of the Kellam Area, off the trail, not far from the trail bend where the spur returns to the Kellam Trail. It is close to a large hemlock tree (north side).

(1994) A Dexter hybrid from the Kellam collection. Located in the row of Dexter hybrids, just west of 'Great Eastern'.

(2007) This Dexter hybrid is located off the trail, just southeast of R. 'Newburyport Beauty'. The accession number is 07-V-23.

It is a very large, spreading plant, commonly planted in the Glen and truly an "iron-clad".
