(1997) A large plant located on the trail at the corner where the North Loop and Loop Connecting Trails intersect. Plant was donated by Dr. Robert Means, an active member of the Piedmont Chapter of the ARS. This species is widely used for it heat tolerance and resistance to drought and disease.

(1997) A hybrid from Ed Collins, who gave us a number of unnamed rhodos. This plant seems to be the only one remaining of ten that were planted in this area in 1997. It is located off the trail, below all the Louisiana plantings and northeast of R. viscosum.

(2009) This Gable hybrid has the fortunei species as one parent, and it has pink flowers. It is located on the trail, just east of the intersection with the Wildflower Meadow Trail.

(1991) This hybrid has always been considered an outstanding rhodo by the Am. Rhododendron Society, though this plant has not done especially well at this site. It is located on the trail, just west of R. 'Flaming Snow', near the East Entrance.
Rhododendron 'Heman Howard'
(Unknown date) This Dexter hybrid was named for a horticulturist on the Dexter plantation at Sandwich, MA. It is located just off the trail, below all the Louisiana plantings and close to a Tulip tree. It is one of the few surviving rhododendrons in the lowest part of this area, where it has proved difficult to grow rhodos.
Rhododendron 'Fragrant Yelton' #4
(Before 1980) A very old plant, known for its fragrance, and in a group widely planted in the Glen known as Yeltons, after the donator, Dr. Ernest Yelton. The plant is located on the trail about midway between the Loop Connecting Trail and the intersection of the North Loop Trail and the Long Branch East Trail.

(1991) A Dexter hybrid with an upright and dense habit; flowers open pink, fading to almost white. This plant is on the trail, just east of R. 'Janet Blair', near the East Entrance.
