(1991) A Dexter hybrid with pink flowers from the Kellam collection. It is located in the northern section of the Kellam Area, on the trail, not far from the trail bend where the spur returns to the Kellam Trail.
Rhododendron 'Gable Hardy Fortunei'
(1999) This large rhodo is located on the trail, adjacent (on the south side) to R.’Nacoochee’. This part of the Pine Woods Trail forms the east side of the Azalea Circle.
Rhododendron 'Frank Lunsford'
(1996) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located off the trail, midway between the picnic table (2017) and the Pine Woods Trail. It is adjacent to the azalea, ‘Soquee RIver’ and it is a selection of the species, calendulaceum.
Rhododendron 'Fragrant Yelton' #4
(Before 1980) A very old plant, known for its fragrance, and in a group widely planted in the Glen known as Yeltons, after the donator, Dr. Ernest Yelton. The plant is located on the trail about midway between the Loop Connecting Trail and the intersection of the North Loop Trail and the Long Branch East Trail.
Rhododendron 'Fragrant Yelton' #3
(Unknown date) This plant is located in a small area bounded on the east by the Long Branch East Trail and on the west by the Long Branch. It is just across the stream from the Cabin. It is an old plant , just off the trail, near the stream, and named for its fragrant flowers.

(2003) This hybrid was propagated from one of our older rhodos in the Glen, originally donated by Dr. Ernest Yelton. It is located just off the trail, on the west side of R. ‘Nestucca’, in the area containing the Hemlock grove.

(Before 1980) This old Yelton hybrid has flowers with a nice fragrance. It is located in the area containing some Magnolia trees, on the north edge of the Hickory Gap, near R. ‘Zanzibar’.

(2010) This hybrid was raised by Dan LIttle. This plant is located close to the trail, in the area just south of the Short Branch and west of the Kellam Trail. It is just south of a large R. ‘Yelton’.

(2009) This hybrid is located on the trail, south of the culvert and north of R. periclymenoides.
Rhododendron 'Flaming Snow' #8
(2007) This Dexter hybrid is located just off the trail, north of the large hemlock. It is close to two unlabelled rhodos and its accession number is 07-V-022.

(2009) This plant is located in a small area bounded by the Scout Bridge Trail on the west side and the fence on the east. It is located off the trail in the center of the area, with a number of other plants propagated by D. Little.

(2009) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located just off the trail, south of R.Vivacious and just west of R. Vulcan’s Shadow. The accession number is 09-V-019.

Rhododendron 'English Roseum' #12
(Unknown date) An older, spreading plant located west of the large colonizing ‘Cynthia’ rhodo on the Short Branch Spur Trail. Hybridized using R.catawbiense by Waterer before 1900. Has lilac-pink flowers.

(Unknown date) This hybrid is located on the trail, not far from where it bends to the south, and close to a pine tree. It is a wide spreading plant.
Rhododendron 'English Roseum' #9
(Before 1980) This plant is located in the far north end of Area 2C on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, and the East Entrance on the north. It is located just off the trail, east of R. Josephine Everitt’. It is a very old plant, cutback over the years.

(Unknown date) This old hybrid is located on the trail, about midway between the ditch and the southern end of this trail.

(Before 1980) An old cut back plant, located on the trail near the Cabin, just north of R. ‘Grierosplendour’. Its age is indicated by the fact that it has a brass label.

(Before 1980) This old, fairly common rhodo is the second of two plants fairly close together, and is located in the area with some Magnolia trees (just north of Hickory Gap). It is off the trail, on the southern edge of the site of a large hickory stump, created by Hurricane Hugo.

(Unknown date) This plant is located in a small area bounded on the east by the Long Branch East Trail and on the west by the Long Branch. It is just across the stream from the Cabin. It is located on the trail, just south of the large hemlock tree.

(Before 1980) A hybrid of R. catawbiense with flowers of rose color. This plant is located off the trail, in the area just south of the old entrance to the Glen and west of the Kellam Trail. It is not far from the fence, close to a R. ‘Roseum Elegans’ plant that may not be distinguishable.

(Before 1980) An older plant located in the Kellam Area, off the trail a short distance northeast of R. ‘Dexter’s Purple’.
Rhododendron 'English Roseum' #1
(1980) This is an old hybrid, a spreading plant located in the area at the north end of the Kellam Trail, in a section (now obscured) that was rock-lined to enclose a planting of azaleas. It is one of the few plants in this section that is not an azalea.
Rhododendron 'Elizabeth Ard'
(1994) This hybrid from C&T Nursery is located off the trail, due north of the Louisiana (C&T Nursery) hybrid, ‘Jim Lynch’ and the watering post. These hybrids are grouped together, have been bred for heat tolerance, and have shown great vigor (2017) since their planting.
Rhododendron 'Edgemont'
(2007) This plant is located in a small area bounded by the Scout Bridge Trail on the west side and the fence on the east. It is located close to the fence, just north of R.’Rona Pink’. It is Dexter hybrid with pink flowers.
Rhododendron 'Earl Sommerville hybrid'
(2013) This plant is located in the “Azalea Hill” open area created by the fallen giant white oak. Most plants in this area are azaleas with a few small trees and herbaceous plants. It is located on the trail, at the south end of the area, where the trail turns west. It is just south of azalea ‘Double Orange’. Created by Earl Sommerville, who has an extensive collection of native azaleas, many of which are natural hybrids.
Rhododendron 'Dusky Maid'
(2007) This plant is located on the trail where is makes a turn towards the north. It is adjacent (on the south side) to R. fortunei x ‘Madonna’. The accession number is 07-V-018.
Rhododendron 'Duchess of York'
(Before 1980) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located on the trail, adjacent on the northside to R. austrinum x canescens, close to the far south edge of this area. In 2017, this plant had a very impressive bloom set.
Rhododendron 'Double Orange hybrid'
(1995) This plant is located in the “Azalea Hill” open area created by the fallen giant white oak. Most plants in this area are azaleas with a few small trees and herbaceous plants. It is located on the trail, just south of ‘Madame Masson’. This hybrid was collected from Wayah Bald, in the Winding Stairs Gap. It is most likely a form of the calendulaceum species or the arborescens species
Rhododendron 'Dorothy Russell' #3
(1991) A Dexter hybrid with large, deep red flowers. It is located at the North Entrance, next to the large spreading Rhodo metternichii.

(2000) This Dexter hybrid is located on the trail in front of R. Fortunei Cream, in the area just north of the Hickory Gap. It has pink flowers with dark red spots.
Rhododendron 'Dorothy Russell' #1
(1995) This Dexter hybrid has purplish-pink flowers with dark red spots. It is located near the west edge of this area, just north of R. periclymenoides. It is one of the few remaining rhodos in the lower part of this area, where it has proved difficult to grow rhododendrons. The accession number is 95-V-028.

Rhododendron 'Don Kellam' #1
(1992) A hybrid by Cowles (2nd generation Dexter hybrid), with orange flowers. It is named in honor of Dr. Donald S. Kellam, the donor of our prized collection of Dexter rhododendrons. It is located on the trail, in the area adjoining (north) of the Kellam area.
Rhododendron 'Don Kellam x Red Beach'
(1999) This hybrid with ‘Don Kellam’ as one parent seems to be mislabelled – research is unable to find information about it. It is located in the area just north of the Kellam Area, near the irrigation pipe and a spreading R. minus. It is growing laterally, close to the ground (2017).
Rhododendron 'Dexter's Victoria'
(Unknown date) This plant is located in an area bounded on the east by the Scout Bridge Trail, on the south by a drainage ditch and Coastal Plain area, and on the west by the Long Branch East Trail. It mainly consists of older plantings. It is located on the trail, north of R. ‘canescens’ and other large azaleas.
Rhododendron 'Dexter's Tan'
(1992) A Dexter hybrid from the Kellam collection with soft yellowish-tan and cream flowers. This plant is located on the trail, in the area just south of the old entrance to the Glen and west of the Kellam Trail. It is just north of a large R. ‘Cadis x Wheatley’ plant.
Rhododendron 'Dexter's Springtime'
(1996) A Dexter hybrid from the Kellam collection. The growth habit is rather low and broad. It has fragrant, yellowish-white flowers with pink edges and brown spotting in the throat. It is located in the Kellam Area, near the center and south of R. ‘Halesite Maiden’.
Rhododendron 'Dexter's Spice'
(1994) A Dexter hybrid from the Kellam collection. Located in the row of Dexter hybrids, just west of ‘Great Eastern’.
Rhododendron 'Dexter's Pink' #2
(2005) This plant is located on the trail in the area bounded by the North Loop Trail on the north and the Loop Connecting Trail on the east. It is where the trail makes a turn to the south from a collection of ferns. The accession number is 05-V-011.

(2000) This Dexter hybrid is located not far off the trail, in the area just north of the Hickory Gap. Not far from this plant to the south is a hemlock tree, and just east is R.’Yak x aberconwayi’.
