ClearRhododendron 'Orange Carpet'
(2008)This plant is located in the “Azalea Hill” open area created by the fallen giant white oak. Most plants in this area are azaleas with a few small trees and herbaceous plants. It is located on the trail at the far south end of the area, where the trail makes a turn to the west. This plant is a natural hybrid of calendulaceum and flammeum, and was discovered by Earl Sommerville. It is very low growing.
Rhododendron 'Olga Mezitt' #2
(2007) This hybrid is located on the trail, very close to a large hemlock tree. It is adjacent to R. ‘Janet Blair’. It is one of the earliest rhodos to bloom and it is a member of the PJM Group.
Rhododendron 'Nova Zembla'
(2008) This plant is located in a small area bounded by the Stone Bridge Trail and the Hickory Gap and Long Branch East Trails leading to the Stone Bridge. It is on the trail at the intersection of the Giant Oak Trail and the Hickory Gap Trail. The accession number is 08-V-028.
Rhododendron 'Northern Sunburst'
(Unknown date) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located on the sidehill east of the Stone Bridge and is in the PJM Group of rhodos. Foliage is green until colder weather, when it turns to a brownish color.
Rhododendron 'Nightingale'
(2007) This hybrid is located off the trail, adjacent to R. ‘Grierosplendour’ (on the north side). The predominant flower color is purple, with a strong red blotch. One of the parents is R. ‘Purple Splendour’. The accession number is 07-V-032.
Rhododendron 'Newburyport Beauty'
(1991) A Dexter hybrid in the Kellam Area from the Kellam Collection. It is located towards the middle of the Area, some distance off the Trail. It is due east of a group of Grierosplendour plants near the Kellam sign.

(2000) This hybrid is an award winning plant for the Southeast. It is an outstanding rhodo with the species fortunei and yakushimanum as parents. It has white flowers in early spring and a compact habit, with glossy dark green leaves. It is located on the trail, in the area just north of Hickory Gap, on the south side of R. ‘Peppermint x hyperythrum’.

(1996) This hybrid was raised and donated by Dr. Kellam. It is an outstanding rhodo with the species fortunei and yakushimanum as parents. It has white flowers in early spring and a compact habit, with glossy dark green leaves. Our plant is located on the trail, in the area containing the Hemlock grove. It is on the south side of R. adenopodum.
Rhododendron 'Nacoochee'
(Unknown date) This azalea is located on the trail, near its intersection with the Azalea Circle Trail. It is a natural hybrid of the periclymenoides and atlanticum species, selected by Beasley. The predominant color is white.

(2002) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located off the trail, due east of the azalea, ‘Carouselle’.

(2002) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is on the trail , close to the picnic table, and is a natural hybrid azalea, thought to be a cross between the atlanticum and periclymenoides species. Discovered by George Beasley. Acc. # 02-V-022.

(2010) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located far off the trail, near the fence, between a large clump of R.minus and the former site of the plants waste area. The accession number is 10-V-48.

(2000) This plant is located in the Pine Woods area bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the west, the fence on the east, the Toothache Tree on the north and an extensive growth of ‘Maxecat’ rhodos on the south. It is located on the trail, just north of the azalea, ‘Margaret Burrell’. It is a hybrid by Beasley, crossing the species atlanticum, periclymenoides, and austrinum.

(Unknown date) A Dexter hybrid with the fortunei species as a parent. It has deep pink flowers with a crimson throat and large deep green leaves. It is located in the Kellam Area, off the trail, just north of R. ‘C.O.D.’ and close to a large R. minus plant below the Kellam sign.

(1991) A Dexter hybrid from the Kellam collection, with the fortunei species as a parent. It has deep pink flowers with a crimson throat and large deep green leaves. It is located in the northern section of the Kellam Area, off the trail, not far from the trail bend where the spur returns to the Kellam Trail. It is close to a large red oak tree.

The accession number is 80-V-077. It is located close to a big pine tree and north of R. ‘Yak x Belle Heller’.

(2001) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located at the far south end of this area at the intersection of the Pine Woods and Long Branch East Trails. It was donated by the hybridizer, Lonnie Player of Fayetteville,NC.
Rhododendron 'Mrs Voyt Allison'
(1994) This hybrid from C&T Nursery is located off the trail, due west of the Louisiana (C&T Nursery) hybrid, ‘Will-O-The Wisp’. These hybrids are grouped together, have been bred for heat tolerance, and have shown great vigor (2017) since their planting. The cross here is R. ‘Van Nes Sensation’ x hyperythrum.
Rhododendron 'Mrs Otis Statham'
(1994) This hybrid from C&T Nursery is located on the trail, due west of the Louisiana (C&T Nursery) hybrid, ‘metternichii x hyperythrum’. These hybrids are grouped together, have been bred for heat tolerance, and have shown great vigor (2017) since their planting. This cross, R. maximum x R.hyperythrum, likely will result in a very large plant.

(2000) This hybrid is located on the trail, just south of a large hickory stump created by Hurricane Hugo. It is just north of a Magnolia tree, in the area north of the Hickory Gap.

It is located on the trail, adjacent (on the north side) to the large growth of R. ‘Maxecat’ at the edge of this area.
